Working with local communities, we have established a network of workshops in Ecuador, and Vietnam. The majority of the artisans who work for us are women and we work hard to support the female members of the communities in which we work, through empowerment and education. Most of the women we work with are the main carers in their families, but they are also now becoming the main breadwinners. With long-term job opportunities and a stable income, these women are not only changing their own lives and the lives of their families, they are also building the foundations of an economically stronger community which can offer a better future for the next generation.
FAIRE VALUES IN THE WORKPLACE
At Faire we treat all our artisans in line with our core values of fairness. Our vision is to empower artisans out of a cycle of generational poverty by offering jobs, business opportunities and training, rather than charity.
We partner with our artisans to create a stable work environment in which we provide long-term commitments. Everyone is formally employed, and no-one is paid on a piece-by-piece basis. Instead we provide a dignified and guaranteed base salary and with this comes a range of benefits. These include vacation and maternity cover, full health insurance, double salary during our established busy periods, interest free loans, holiday bonuses and retirement payments. Each year our artisans receive a 10% share of the workshop profits. We bring our core values to our terms of employment, so our artisans can feel valued and respected at work.
